***** NEW UPDATE TO MY FAV iPHONE APP*****
I’ve been jealous for years of my friends who could get live market updates to their Blackberries. Now I would NEVER actively trade the markets through an iPhone, Blackberry, etc.! But I’ve jut always thought that in the afternoon, when I am considering entries in certain stocks — which I trade from end-of-day charts — that I would love to be able to see where those stocks are going into the close without needing to be in my office.
I did get an the new iPhone and since I am in a 3G area, it is much faster that my first (the original iPhone). I also love the new Apps Store and the Bloomberg killer app (free!) The volume has been significantly increased and the voice quality is noticeably better. Even the GPS is fast and accurate, which makes getting directions on my iPhone much better than the old system that would triangulate from cell phone towers. You can even track your friends and family with programs like Loopt (cool but creepy…)

The lines to be among the first to snag the new iToy … I mean Phone … were just like the news reported, although no where near the original iPhone release. My husband stood in line Monday morning as I was back at the office dealing with some phone line issues. I joined him later in the morning and the line was wrapped around the building.
The real hold-up was the activation problems that plagued the iTunes servers because of AT&T’s insistence that the phones be activated before leaving the store to reduce hacking.
Apple stores were better stocked from the feedback I got from friends. Luckily my local AT&T store was pretty cool about people leaving the store with unactivated phones once the iTunes service took a dump.
By 11:00am my husband and I were enjoying a late breakfast (he was in line at 5:30am) and then we went back home where it took until 3:32pm for the iTunes server to come back to life and activate our phones. It’s amazing how quickly frustration turned to jubilation.
It was the App Store that really was cool and this is not something that you need a new 3G iPhone for…this addition will certainly be another excellent revenue source for Apple as iTunes was. Maybe not to the same degree, but the Apps are addictive. I was in the App Store right away and I downloaded the Bloomberg (awesome!) and some other cool apps that will undoubtedly increase the chance that my new iPhone will be used as a
1. voice recorder ((VoiceNotes)
2. a radio (AOL Radio, Pandora)
3. a way to update Twitter (Twitterrific)
4. upload and share photos online (Kyte)
5. a flashlight – hey I’ve done this more times than I can count and someone finally figured out a better way to get more light our of the iPhone display! (Light)
6. an arcade (Moto Racer, Paper Football, and more!)
